A few days ago I talked about the health beneficial properties of coffee. Today we bring you information about potential beneficial properties of some alcoholic drinks.

Let’s start with beer: Studies in the Netherlands indicate that Homer Simpson’s favorite drink prevents the concentration of some amino acid accumulation in high amounts is related to the possibility of heart. Furthermore, as other research, beer is also good to reduce bad cholesterol (hopefully my doctor felt the same), prevent Alzheimer’s disease and is beneficial to improve male impotence.

(It should be clear that not quote the sources of such information as its original source is lost in the recesses of the web, so that the following statements should be used as press leaks without much scientific rigor behind the endorsement).

Moreover, in relation to other beverages, it was found that quinine containing gin and tonic that helps prevent so fearful that they are nocturnal cramps.

But let the wine, the master of the house, it is known (or at least it is widely believed) that a glass of red wine with meals is good for the heart, but now, new research, indicate that the wine also possesses properties to prevent lung cancer, one of the most common cancers worldwide. Interestingly, research shows that these health-giving properties of red wine are specific and not other varieties of the drink.

Of course, all those “called to drink alcohol” come together with an appropriate recommendation / explanation / indication of “drunk in moderation,” and this is the crux of the matter. Social drinkers are a myth, no one is alcohol in moderation, people or not an alcoholic, or if it and dies before anything else, or otherwise Bacchus always passes the bill.

And I regret to say that these potential healing properties of alcohol are not comparable with all the harmful effects on health of drug intake. If you want a fact, it is estimated that 40% of people admitted to hospitals for complications do alcohol. Alcohol should be seen as what it is: a worldwide epidemic eradication with low expectations for the near future.
