Drug Addiction Treatment

Addiction is a state that an individual comes in different ways. The phenomena that are linked are tolerance, withdrawal dependence and sensitization. Tolerance refers to the reduction of the effects caused by drugs. In alcohol, for example, over the years of abuse by a person, the effects diminish, reaching the individual tolerance of the substance. This can also happen with the euphoric effect caused by the consumption of cocaine.

Tolerance is directly linked to the withdrawal. This state, which alcohol can occur in mild, moderate or severe, calling this state Delirium Tremens. The slowdown in consumption, both alcohol and any other substance, generated by the withdrawal, according to each drug.

On the other hand it presents the dependence. This can be seen in different ways. Depending on the substance, the individual can attain freedom from dependency and avoid withdrawal symptoms. If someone consumes certain medicine to get to sleep, it is possible that over time, the only way forward is through the use of such drug, there is a dependency.

In turn, awareness is a form of addiction, or rather a characteristic of addiction, in some cases referring to the possibility of increased drug effect through higher consumption. Cocaine can be an example in some cases, where the tolerance decreases, as opposed to sensitization.

Types of Addictions
Addictions can manifest as different substances and with different activities. In relation to substances, lasa addictions are drug addiction, alcoholism and smoking. On the other hand, a less known and have other types of addiction-related activities such as codependency, which is addiction to others that pathological gambling is gambling, kleptomania, addiction to stealing, mythomania, addiction to lying, sex addiction or workaholism.
